what's new in this release for smes ?

The following features have been added in SMES :


Multiple improvements for registered users to update and edit existing marks


  • Registered users are able to update approximate coordinates for existing marks. Approximate coordinates fields are now editable for both existing and new mark submissions.
  • Update approximate coordinates of mark

  • Registered users are also able to update height fields whilst updating or editing existing marks. All height techniques are available to select in the drop down.
  • Update mark height information

  • ’View on Map’ function is now also available in Update Existing Mark screen.

Draft functionality added for lodge new mark


  • Registered users are able to save a draft for either a) lodge new mark or b) editing a new mark. This enables users to return later to complete the new mark attributes prior to lodging a new mark or to edit a new mark to reflect an update. For these submissions, the 'Draft' status is assigned, and the Type is 'New'.

  • The 'Save Draft' button is available along the bottom of the Lodge or Edit New Mark screen.

Enabling registered users to submit AVWS heights for new and existing marks


  • Registered users are able to lodge new marks with AVWS heights as an option. Whilst AHD is the primary height datum, AVWS heights may be a suitable alternative for some surveying applications (please contact SMES Support for further details).

  • Registered users will also have AVWS as an alternative height datum for editing new marks.
  • Edit existing mark height using AVWS datum

Registered user functionality to filter through their mark submissions


Registered users have the functionality to filter mark submissions according to status. A submission status drop down is now available for users to filter according to the following:

  • All (excluding draft and approved)
  • Rejected
  • Rejected NFA (No Further Action)
  • Draft
  • Submitted
  • Approved

Improved SMES API webservices to enable the update of existing marks


The SMES API has been improved to enable developers to further integrate mark submission functionality. The webservice will allow the update of existing marks in a similar manner that registered users will experience using the SMES GUI.

Removal of the offline submission functionality


The offline submissions page and all corresponding functions have been removed (applicable to SMES administrators only).
