what's new in this release for lassi?

This is an exiciting time for LASSI with the buzz word being "search" in this release. Gone are the days when you had to exactly type in what you wanted to search for! With LASSI's new search feature, LASSI will help you find what you are looking for as you type!! Read on for more details about this exciting new feature.

You might not notice this so much now (with the new search feature), but we have made some changes to LASSI's old search fields as well. Again, read on for more detail about what has changed.


a more intuitive search for lassi

We are excited to introduce an entirely new search experience for LASSI! In a complete over-haul of it's search functionality, we are introducing a significantly more intuituve and easy to use search functionality for LASSI.

As you may have already noticed, we have also made a few changes to the way LASSI looks with this change. In a nutshell, these are some highlights of the new search in LASSI. For more details, head over to the "read more" section.

  • The new search is available for all LASSI applications, that's: LASSI, LASSI-SPEAR, SMES and VICNAMES

  • To search for something, may it be an address, survey label or a survey mark, just start typing in the new search field and LASSI will start showing you results as you type. The more details you type, the more precise the search results will be.

  • When you see what you are looking for in the search results, select it and LASSI will display what you selected on the map.

restriction on what you can enter into the the old lassi search fields

After investgation and as part of our on-going effort to make LASSI a more secure application, we have identified a number of changes we had to make to the "old" search fields. This involved limiting the types and length of characters, numbers and special characters that could be entered into the various LASSI search fields.

We have updated LASSI's help file with more details about what characters, numbers and special characters of what lengths are not allowed for each search field. You can see the relevant section of the help file at this link.

However, with LASSI's new search feature, we're pretty sure that you won't have to worry about the old search fields much.
